The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) and Rocliffe have selected writers to be featured at the New York Television Festival and showcased for both UK and US television industries. The writers' work will be performed by professional actors in a reading and writers will receive feedback from the New York Television Festival audience as well as from industry executives.

Farah Abushwesha, Founder of Rocliffe, said: "With the selection process being completely anonymous and knowing that these writers are chosen purely on the strength of their comedic voices, I get excited to meet with the person behind the characters they create. What never fails to impress me is how excited the industry is too and how it gives this initiative its full support in judging, mentoring, developing and employing these writers. This platform opens doors in ways that knocking alone as a new talent can't, because from start to finish, every aspect of the initiative has industry support."

This year the following writer and writing teams made the final selection:

John Sheerman - Gilding the Lily
Nicole Paglia and Daniel Brierley - American Nails
Izzy Mant and Neil Warhurst - Out of Time

The New York Television Festival runs October 20-26, 2014. The finalist writers will be featured at the festival under the banner 'BAFTA Rocliffe New Comedy Showcase'.
