The Museum of Moving Image is co-presenting with New Fest, Ingmar Bergman's 1966 directed Persona.
"Liv Ullmann, in her first of many legendary collaborations with Bergman, plays a stage actor who has inexplicably gone silent. Bibi Andersson is equally mesmerizing as the garrulous young nurse caring for her at a remote island cottage. Isolated together, the women perform a mysterious spiritual and emotional transference in a scene that has come to influence generations of filmmaking. Shot by the great Sven Nykvist, Persona remains a penetrating, dreamlike work of profound psychological depth that has long been discussed as a breakthrough tale of unspoken love."
On Friday, October 23 at 6:15pm, the film will be celebrating a 60th Anniversary at the Redstone Theater at MoMI.
The Museum of Moving Image is located at 36-01 35 Ave, Astoria, NY 11106.
