18 Emmys for New York Productions

The 68th annual EMMY awards was held in Los Angeles at the Microsoft Theater on Sunday, September 18, 2016. New York based productions won 18 awards total in an evening devoted to prime time television programming from June 1, 2015 - May 31, 2016. Winners were chosen by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

The Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment released a complete list of winners from New York along with a statement from Commissioner Menin and Mayor de Blasio.

Statement from Mayor Bill de Blasio:

"Tonight, we celebrate that the best television in the world is being made right here in New York City. With 18 Emmys going to 'Made in NY' productions tonight, it’s clear that New York continues to draw incredible talent – both behind and in front of the camera. The 2016 'Made in NY' Emmy recipients make our City proud, and represent our thriving production industry – generating nearly $9 billion for the New York City economy, and creating more exciting opportunities for work and entertainment than ever before."

Statement from Commissioner Julie Menin, Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment:

"New York City's television industry is booming, with a record 52 scripted shows 'Made in NY' during the 2015-16 season. And with over 130,000 New Yorkers working in film and television, this industry has emerged as an indispensable part of life to so many New Yorkers – not to mention fans of the fantastic shows that are made here. I congratulate all of tonight's Emmy-winning shows and the incredible teams that worked tirelessly to achieve this success."
