Sunday nights at 9:30pm, Fox TV has slotted a former Saturday Night Live writer in real life to play his television character, John Mulaney.  Mulaney is based loosely on his life as a stand up from Chicago, in New York's comedy scene, while getting through life with his two roommates. Nasim Pedrad, also a former Saturday Night Live cast member in real life, plays Mulaney's roommate lending a female perspective of modern New York City life. Mulaney's other roommate is a fellow stand up comic. The show offers diversity, laughs, and practical insight to the social animal that is New York City.

The seemingly fresh-faced, green actors of this scripted situational comedy are strong and balanced with comedy wisdom from the likes of Martin Short and Elliot Gould.  Mulaney is shot with a multi-camera setup and a live studio audience, a feel John Mulaney says he wished for in creating the type of sitcom series he had imagined making.

Mulaney spoke October 25, 2014 at the New York Television Festival (NYTVF) along with his co-star Nasim Pedrad on the transition from working on Saturday Night Live to fulfilling a network order for 16 episodes of a sitcom.

The PhotoSeen shows pictures taken on the red carpet and during the "Mulaney on Mulaney" panel at the NYTVF.
