The Bicycle Film Festival was started in 2001 by Brendt Barbur, who was hit in a cycling accident.  According to the festival website, Barbur wanted to turn a negative experience into a positive one.  And so the Bicycle Film Festival was born.

The BFF started in New York and over the years, it has toured the world sharing the joys of cycling.  The festival makes its native run in New York City this weekend.

This year's festival started with an art exhibit on Wednesday, June 25th at the Marlborough Broome Street in the Bowery.  The fest continues with the Gold Sprints Party at the East River Bar in Williamsburg on Thursday evening.

The screening portion of the film festival starts on Friday and runs through Sunday, June 29th.  All the films follow the cycling theme and range from shorts to features.

All the screenings take place at Anthology Film Archives at 32 Second Avenue in the East Village.  Single program tickets are $11 plus fee, while the weekend pass is $40 plus fee.  Tickets are available online.  Go to www.bicyclefilmfestival.com to get more information on the films and exact times.
