Made in NY: Technical Careers in Television

Technical careers in television production is the topic of the next "Made in NY" free and open to the public conversations series on March 20, 2013. The focus of the series is to give insight into the local entertainment industry, the types of jobs available behind the scenes of production work for breaking into the business, or developing skills within the industry. The Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment along with Lehman College will present the TECHNICAL CAREERS IN TELEVISION PRODUCTION information session at 6:45 p.m. with doors at 6:15p.m.

The scheduled panelists will be available for questions and answers following the presentation moderated by First Deputy Commissioner of the Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment, Todd Asher. Expected industry speakers include Glynis Burke, a camera and electrical department professional who has worked on The Hours, Unfaithful and "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit;" Mark Brit, a camera operator for "Rachael Ray;" and Kenneth Prins, an audio engineer at FOX.

RSVP to events@media.nyc.gov by Monday, March 18, as space is limited to get your seat in the Lehman College Multimedia Center, Carman Hall in the Bronx.

The Mayor's office of Media and Entertainment has provided the following statistical information about New York City's growing local entertainment industry: 130,000 New Yorkers work in film, television and commercial production and 7.1 billion dollars is generated annually contributing to the City's economy.

The Mayor's Office has also provided directions for your smooth travels to the event.

By subway: Take the 4 or D to Bedford Park Blvd. The campus is a short walk to the west.
