16 Emmys for Made In NY Productions

The 72nd annual Emmys Broadcast on ABC Sunday evening September 20, 2020 from the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Jimmy Kimmel hosted a new to Covid era television awards show with cameras throughout the country to bring creation together. The show was produced by Done + Dust, Reginals Hudlin and KIMMELOT. The telecast featured 23 EMMY categories, a Governors Award and had stars presenting.

Singer-songwriter and GRAMMY winning artist H.E.R. made her Emmy debut with an "In Memoriam" performance.

Creative Arts Emmy Awards were presented over four previous nights from September 14-17 and a fifth broadcast ceremony on Saturday.

New York had 23 local productions nominated for more than 80 awards according to the Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment. Five "MADE IN NY" New York City productions were awarded sixteen Emmys. Saturday Night Live won 6 awards. Last Week Tonight with John Oliver and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel won 4 awards each. The Godfather of Harlem and Mr. Robot also took home Emmy awards.

Eddie Murphy won an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series 2020, for his role of hosting Saturday Night Live.

"Congratulations to our 'Made in NY' 2020 Primetime and Creative Emmy winners," said Commissioner of the Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment, Anne del Castillo. "NYC is and will continue to be a global creative capital, attracting and cultivating talent in front of and behind the camera.  The enthusiastic return of local TV and film production in the midst of these challenging times is heartening and a testament to the strength of our industry."
