Films on the Green Begins May 31 in Central Park

(released 4/23/2019)

The 12th addition of Films on the Green will be taking place May 31 - September 3, 2019. The 2019 series of films pays attention to "Women Behind the Camera" in honor of Agnes Varda, feminist filmmaker and pioneer of French New Wave. Varda passed away earlier this year in 2019, the year of her last film credit; her first being in 1955.

The lineup for the Films on the Green will be 13 selections of female directors in French and Francophone cinema. The film screenings will take place in various New York City Parks and Fort Lee, New Jersey. The NYC Parks annually produce the festival along with the French Embassy and FACE Foundation. The first film COCO BEFORE CHANEL, directed by Anne Fontaine, will be May 31 at Central Park's Cedar Hill near Fifth Avenue & 79th Street.

The screenings are free and open to the public. Follow them on social media for updates #FilmsOnTheGreen. For a look at the full lineup, read more here: frenchculture.org
