Roseanne Tries to Explain Tweet That Got Her Fired

(released 8/3/2018)

Roseanne deserves forgiveness.

Not by way of excuse, but explanation.

Apologies matter.  We have to be more forgiving.

Atonement is the topic tonight.

These were some of the words of Rabbi Boteach in front of the press.

Rabbi Shmuley Boteach in front of Stand Up NY / UWS

July 27.  It is Friday night at the comedy club Stand Up NY and the front of the building is abuzz with media and supporters of Roseanne who have come to hear her speak along with Rabbi Boteach for his podcast.

Earlier in the day, Roseanne was taping the Hannity show for Fox News channel and her plan was to further her BARR'd message and move through the pain of being fired from the show of her creation and namesake that was a ratings leader for ABC Network.

Inside Stand Up NY, Barr took the comedy stage, not as a stand up comedian, but sitting down for a conversation and podcast with Rabbi Boteach, whom Roseanne has referenced as being in her life for twenty years.

Barr got personal, sharing her feeling of needing to hide out in her mother's basement, how she found cigarettes down in a duct of the basement, how Hannity provided her with a new electric cigarette earlier in the day.

Barr shared the exchange between herself and her daughters as the election results came in and Hilary's loss vs. Trump's win became reality. Barr took long pauses before speaking as if a new level of discipline was in practice.

When the Rabbi asked Roseanne if she thought her firing from ABC had anything to do with her support for Trump, she responded, "Well, duh."

"It was a political tweet, not a racist tweet." Barr repeated often.

His podcast can be found at: soundcloud.com

We recorded a portion of the conversation and posted it on YouTube.
