7th Annual People's Film Festival

The 7th annual People's Film Festival will be held May 31 to June 3, 2018 themed "Celebrating the Voice of the People".  Centered in Harlem, the 4-day showcase of films, media makers, new media and technology, public screenings, and music acknowledges the power of the media when placed in the hands of the people.

The opening night starts at 7 p.m. on May 31 and will include red carpet, 9 shorts, a feature screening, and an after party.

In addition to programmed screenings on Friday evening of June 1, the after hours event will be at Marcus Garvey Park where Black Panther will screen for free and is open to all.  Pre-screening music and other activities start at 6 p.m. with a Wakanda style fashion show with live drumming and DJ's.  Activities will include a Wakanda Tech Village from 6-930 p.m. The movie is set to screen just after dark around 8 p.m.

On Saturday, June 2 is the TECH PEOPLE EXPO being held at the Harlem Hospital Center MURAL PAVILION.  Registration is recommended for this all day free event that will include exhibitors, demos, workshops, VR Lounge, virtual and augmented reality, panels, and gaming. Some highlights will be Syncing Music to Film, Diversity in Film, Building 2D-3D Worlds, and Bridging the Gap Between Cultures.  The day long expo will be held from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Venues for the festival are AMC Magic Johnson Theater, Maysles Documentary Center, Harlem Hospital Mural Pavilion, and the MNN El Barrio Firehouse Community Media Center.
