NYC Independent Film Festival Lineup Available

(released 3/24/2016)

The NYC Independent Film Festival, now in its 7th year, takes place April 27 to May 1, 2016.  There are over 200 films that will screen at Producer's Club on West 44th Street.

This year, the festival is expanding its community outreach by having an exchange with Hostos Community College in the Bronx.  CUNY students are interning with the festival to learn about festival curation, production, and working in the film industry.  Also, members of the festival's executive team are guest lecturing at the college and film educators from the Hostos community will participate at the festival panels and seminars.  Some of the topics that will be covered are Film Distribution, Music Licensing, Film Finance, Animation, and Virtual Reality.

Keep an eye out for some of these local productions at the festival.  Waiting, by Cristian Piazza with voiceover by John Turturro, is a documentary about immigrants looking for a second chance. It opens the festival on the 27th at 12:30pm.  Also on opening day is One Man's Trash by Kelly Adams, a documentary about the interesting collection of a sanitation worker from Harlem.  Jen Senko's The Brainwashing of My Dad screens on April 29 at 10:00pm.  It documents the transformation of the director's father through the media.
