The New York Film Critics acknowledges the passing of the longest-standing member, Rex Reed. Reed died in his home in New York City early morning May 12, 2026 at age 87.
Rex Reed joined the NYFCC in 1975 as a film critic for the New York Post. He maintained a membership for an unbroken 51 years through various outlets including New York Daily News and, since 1987, the New York Observer.
