Margaret Mead Film Festival This Weekend

Celebrate our shared human experience at the Margaret Mead Film Festival. This three-day celebration takes place Friday, May 1 through Sunday, May 3, 2026. Voices near and far present storytelling and documentary films.

The festival is held at the American Museum of Natural History. The museum is located at 200 Central Park West. Time and Water is the Friday night opening film, an intimate, transcendent meditation on loss, memory, and the deep time of natural world, poetic, urgent, and powerfully human in its confrontation of the climate crisis. The Director Sara Dosa will be in attendance.

The festival is named after famed anthropologist Margaret Mead. Mead was known for researching and writing about people of the South Pacific especially pertaining to adolescence and sexuality. She worked at AMNH for 52 years and was curator in the Department of Anthropology from 1946 to 1969.
