The Devil Wears Prada 2 has been shooting in the city. On Friday evening, they turned the American Museum of Natural History into their set for a Spring Florals Runway red carpet.

Stars Meryl Streep and Stanley Tucci were in the scene along with many background players lining the entry stairs and sidewalk. Streep was in a red gown and Tucci in a tux. Background were red carpet photographers, event staff, and model types in fashionable attire. They appeared to be creating a red carpet arrivals with guests arriving by black van service.

The production of this long awaited sequel is news itself. What really struck me Friday evening is that there was around a thousand spectators watching and recording the action from across the street.

This wasn't just people randomly walking by a film shoot. This was the power of social media and probably more specifically Twitter (sorry can't call it the new thing just yet) and Tik Tok.

OLV tweets daily and weekly updates about productions and earlier in the day, people were reporting on Tik Tok about the set building anticipation.

That evening, I overheard someone on a call, "You won't believe what I'm seeing. I just saw Meryl Streep! I just saw Meryl Streep!" At least 10 people burst into laughter joining the young lady's jubilation.
