Now in its fifth year, Prismatic Ground will introduce New Yorkers to interesting new films. The festival runs April 30th through May 4th, 2025. It is an annual festival in New York City centered on experimental documentary and avant-garde film.
Prismatic Ground opens with the 29 minute short Palestine Will Win from 1969. It will be followed up with the just under feature length Your Touch Makes Others Invisible. This new 70 minute film from Rajee Samarasinghe blends documentary with narrative fiction to illustrate the largely unknown and ignored problem with people disappearing in Sri Lanka. Filmmaker Samarasinghe will attend the screening for a Q&A that follows. The opening night takes place at Anthology Film Archives. The first film block begins at 6:30pm. It will be followed by a block of short films at 9:15pm.
Screenings continue at BAM on May 1, Light Industry on May 2, and then back to Anthology on May 3 and 4. Metrograph is included on May 4 as well for the festival closing.
The closing night film is A Body To Live In from Angelo Madsen, who will accompany the screening for a Q&A. A Body To Live In is a documentary film about Fakir Musafar and the body modification movement.
