Lifetime Unscripted Development Pipeline

(released 7/31/2013)

The New York Television Festival has partnered with Lifetime Television for the second time to find the next big talent for the network. Submissions are currently being accepted for the Lifetime Unscripted Development Pipeline. This challenge to independent producers is to find the next Lifetime star using an eye for talent and a love of unscripted television format.

The competition will be narrowed to twenty-five semi-finalists that the network will review to streamline down to five finalists. The five finalists will receive production funding to produce more tape. One winner will receive $10,000 and an opportunity to possibly produce the pilot presentation of their winning submission.

Per published rules of the competition, submissions are due September 23, 2013 and must meet the following criteria:
  • Due by noon on September 23, 2013
  • 2-4 minutes of tape
  • 1-2 page treatment
  • Unscripted format
To ensure you are bringing to the network what they are looking for in their next star, check out the Lifetime Creative Briefing. This document outlines more specific direction on character types and concepts that can make for a winning formula. The brief will also outline what is a definite No when presenting a character.
