HBO Succession Season 4 In Production

(released 8/7/2022)

HBO announced at the end of June that production had begun on Season 4 of the drama series Succession. Created by Jesse Armstrong, the series explores themes of power, wealth, and family dynamic.

The longline for season four is : "In the ten-episode season four, the sale of media conglomerate Waystar Royco to tech visionary Lukas Matsson moves ever closer. The prospect of this seismic sale provokes existential angst and familial division among the Roys as they anticipate what their lives will look like once the deal is completed. A power struggle ensues as the family weighs up a future where their cultural and political weight is severely curtailed."

The first two seasons of the series have garnered 23 Emmy® nominations and 9 wins, with seven Emmys®, including Outstanding Drama Series, for the second season. Season three, which premiered last October, has led guild awards including WGA, DGA, and PGA, and the SAG Award for drama ensemble. Season three leads the 2022 EMMYS with 25 nomination for the show. The show received 14 acting nominations a new record for a show in one year.

Production took up residence at Pier 15 at the Seaport in Lower Manhattan on Wednesday, August 3rd. They commandeered a City Cruise ship and decorated it with balloons and bunting in patriotic, or may we say, presidential colors. Atop the second floor of the pier, which is normally a seated viewing area, production built an enclosed tent replete with a Dixieland band.

At the end of Season 3, Connor Roy proposes to Willa Ferreyra. On set, there was a banner with their names. In typical Connor behavior, is he mixing a wedding with his political bidding? I guess we'll have to watch Season 4 to find out.

Here are some photos from the Pier 15 location.
