Last month, Edward Burns' Purple Violets became the first feature film to debut for distribution on iTunes. It premiered at Tribeca in the spring, but didn't get good enough offers to make a theater run. The movie has been on sale since November 20th and as of today, it is listed in the top 10 downloads. Number 6 to be exact and down 1 place since last week.

This may be starting a trend as the pranksters behind the Jackass TV show and movies is about to release Jackass 2.5 via the web. It is another first. This is all to be followed by the launching of JackassWorld.com on February 9, 2008. The videos currently in place are using Flash Player, but have a similar look and feel to what you find on YouTube.com.
