Museum of Moving Image will host a screening of The Last Temptation of Christ with Isaac Butler and Alissa Wilkinson in person. Join them at the Redstone Theater on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at 12:30pm. Both authors Butler (The Perfect Moment) and Wilkinson (We Tell Ourselves Stories) will be in conversation. A book signing of The Perfect Moment will also take place.
The film is directed by Martin Scorsese and has Willem Dafoe, Barbara Hershey, Harvey Keitel, David Bowie among the cast. Paramount at one point delayed this humanist portrayal of Jesus Christ, based on the novel by Nikos Kazantzakis and the film was also protested by religious groups when the film was finally completed.
