New York State Independent Film Production Tax Credit Program Application Windows for 2026 are currently open. April 30, 2026 is the upcoming deadline to apply. Productions that comply with requirements may be eligible for a tax credit of 30% of qualified production costs.

Qualified expenses include certain above-the-line wages subject to a cap, below-the-line wages, and production costs directly related to the production of a qualified film. This tax credit is funded at $700 million a year through 2036.

Additionally, a production may be eligible for 10% credit for scoring costs if production scoring costs include payment to a minimum of five musicians. A series that relocates production to NYS can qualify for productions costs up to a cap of $6 million.
