Canvas on the Silver Screen: A Live Conversation Program Drawn From The Christophers

The four filmmakers of The Christophers will be in person and moderated by Andrew Goldstein, Cultural Strategist and Former Editor-In-Chief of ARTNET NEWS at 6pm on April 9, 2026.

Starring Ian McKellen and Michaela Coel, directed by Steven Soderbergh and written by Ed Solomon, these creators will share how the film was cast, ideas behind the film, how the actors approached authentically capturing the artistic lives of the characters, and what the process revealed the continuum between art and cinema. The discussion will also address the participants experience navigating multi-hyphenate creative lives across film, painting (Soderberg), theater (McKellen) and writing (Coel, Solomon).
