GOTHAM has events coming up to help you become the filmmaker you want to be. You can take a number of upcoming virtual zoom workshops that will help get your ideas for the screen on the screen and out to audiences. They are also holding a few meet-ups to further your filmmaking momentum.
Starting March 17, Pitching and Packaging Your Film will Zoom 5-8pm ET and again on March 19th at the same time. Gautam Singhani has LA, NY, and Mumbai production experience for networks like Apple, Netflix, HBO and Universal Pictures. Learn what goes into filmmaking before cameras even roll. Development, materials, early-stage funding, delivering a live pitch and leave with actionable feedback and next steps.
March 23, Getting Your First Movie Financed & Sold with Tyler Boehm will Zoom 5-8pm ET. Tyler is Unapologetic Projects Co-Founder &Co-CEO. Boehm works with underrepresented creators telling authentic stories in film and television. Explore crafting development materials to appeal to financiers, budgeting, pitching to financiers, dealmaking, festival strategy and sales.
March 25 from 1-2pm ET, Zoom With Jeanne Hamburg, Chair of Media Law Practice, Norris McLaughlin, as she covers Legal Issues for Filmmakers in the Creative Economy. Learn about Intellectual Property ownership of film with attention to licenses to social platforms necessary to distribute, social media posts, talent clearances for social media, merchandising unique to social media and more. Jeanne Hamburg has over three decades of every type of soft IP matter. She has played lead roles in litigation and transactions involving copyright and trademark.
March 26, Short Film Distribution Strategy will Zoom 5-8pm ET with Greg Sorvig. The three-hour online workshop with Greg, the Artistic Director of Heartland Film and Indy Shorts International Film Festival, and Senior Associate Programmer with Tribeca Festival shorts team, gives a practical road map for getting your short film out into the world.
In addition to online workshops, Gotham has two meet-ups scheduled for April to further your reach of industry connections and knowledge. April 1, a Documentary Filmmakers Meet-Up. April 7, Narrative Creators Meet-Up. Both Meet-Ups are at 7pm online until 8pm ET.
