Adam Sandler, George Clooney Jay Kelly New York Premiere at NYFF (released Saturday, October 4, 2025) By Kimberly Burke Noah Baumbach is co-writer and director of the coming-of-age film JAY KELLY. The screenplay written by Baumbach and Emily Mortimer has an ensemble cast that includes George Clooney, Adam Sandler, Laura Dern, and Billy Crudup. In December 2023, Noah Baumbach set up a new project deal with Netflix, with George Clooney and Adam Sandler cast to star in the feature. In March 2024, Laura Dern, Billy Crudup and Riley Keough were added to the cast. Later that month, Jim Broadbent, Patsy Ferran, Isla Fisher, Greta Gerwig, Louis Partridge, Alba Rohrwacher, and Patrick Wilson were among those announced as part of the cast, with Mortimer also due to appear in the film. The film follows famous actor Jay Kelly played by George Clooney and his devoted manager Ron Sukenick played by Adam Sandler. Jay Kelly and his manager Ron Sukenick share a friendship and a journey across Europe. As the two travel, they are forced to face choices they have made, relationships they have had, and legacies they leave behind. Jay Kelly's publicist is Liz performed by Laura Dern, and Billy Crudep plays Timothy, Jay's acting buddy who didn't get to have his big break. Principal photography began in March 2024 occurring between New York City, London, and Tuscany. Cinematographer Linus Sandgren shot the film in 35mm, This was the cinematographer's first collaboration with Baumbach. Velcro Bonelli was brought on the project as editor. In July of 2025, Nicholas Britell was hired to compose the score. Jay Kelly had its world premiere at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival in competition August 28, 2025. It had its New York premiere September 29th at the New York Film Festival. The film will screen at the festival a few more times but some of the screenings are already sold out. In December 2023, Noah Baumbach set up a new project deal with Netflix, with George Clooney and Adam Sandler cast to star in the feature. In March 2024, Laura Dern, Billy Crudup and Riley Keough were added to the cast.
