Watchmen Leads Noms, Kimmel To Host Emmys

September 20, 2020, ABC will broadcast the EMMY AWARDS, 8p.m. to 11p.m. EDT/5-8p.m. PDT. The 72nd EMMY AWARDS will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, who also is executive producer of the evening's show. The nominations for this year's awards were announced July 28, 2020 via virtual event live ceremony. The event was hosted by Leslie Jones, Laverne Cox, Josh Gad, Tatiana Maslany, and Television Academy Chairman and CEO Frank Scherma.

"Despite the unprecedented challenges facing the entertainment industry, it has been an extraordinary year for television," said Television Academy Chairman and CEO Frank Scherma. "Television has inspired, united and comforted a global audience this season. We are honored to be recognizing so many of the talented programs, producers, directors and craftspeople behind the remarkable storytelling that has brought us together while we remain apart."

Netflix leads the nomination count for platforms with 160 nominations. HBO has second most nominations with 107. The top five included NBC with 47 nominations, ABC with 36 and FX has 33 nominations. HBO's program WATCHMEN took the top spot for nominations with 26. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel had the second most with 20 nominations. Leading programs include:
