Paris Theatre Saved By Netflix

(released 11/26/2019)

New York's last single screen theater has a savior.  Netflix, which currently is screening Marriage Story, announced yesterday that it signed a long term lease agreement with the owners of the Paris Theatre.

Netflix announced the agreement, but did not disclose the term length.  They will use the space for special events, screenings, and theatrical releases of its films.  Netflix also recently purchased the Egyptian Theatre in Los Angeles.  It is ironic that many blame online streaming services as the killer of movie theaters and here, Netflix has saved a couple landmark venues.

Previous to Marriage Story screening at the Paris, the doors were shuttered since a run of Ron Howard's Pavarotti, which many thought would be its last.  Currently, tickets are still available for Marriage Story, which can be purchased at the Paris box office or through the movie website.
