All Things Comedy To Produce Patrice O'Neal Doc

(released 10/23/2019)

Comedy Central and All Things Comedy are partnering to produce a Patrice O'Neal documentary based on the comic's life. The film will begin shooting this fall and is untitled currently. The film will take a look at his life that ended at 41 in 2011, his comedic legend, his personal archives of material, the influence he had on other comedians, and placing his work in context to the time and today. Michael Bonfiglio (Gary Gulman: The Great Depresh) will direct the Patrice O'Neal documentary.

All Things Comedy, founded by Bill Burr and Al Madrigal, is owned and operated by comedians. The company philosophy is to give comedians the opportunity to create their own content that they think is funny, as well as have ownership in the distribution of the content. Bill Burr, Al Madrigal, and Michael Bertolina of All Things Comedy, Von DeCarlo (Patrice's Fiancee), and Michael Bonfiglio (director) will serve as executive producers for the documentary film. Christian McLaughlin, Anne Harris, and Gabriella Yacyk are the Executives in Charge of Production for Comedy Central.

"I am very excited and proud to have gotten this project in the hands of Comedy Central, and now with Bill Burr and All Things Comedy aboard, as well as, our director Michael Bonfiglio," said Decarlo. "This makes for an absolute dream team to help his mother and I bring Patrice's story to the masses, and solidify his legacy for generations to come."

Patrice was born in New York City and raised in Boston from one year old. He took the stage in Boston 22 years later and made his name known in the Boston circuit in six years time. O'Neal took his work to NY and soon after Hollywood called with TV appearances, late night show slots, and half hour comedy specials for Showtime, Comedy Central and HBO. Movie roles also became part of his credits. Patrice's self-proclaimed favorite gig was Comedy Central's Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn.
