NYTVF Sees Increase in Productions by Women & POC

(released 6/7/2018)

The New York Television Festival has seen an increase in Independent Pilot Competition productions created by women and people of color. The festival, which runs July 14-20 this summer, has set a new record for animations with 7 to be screened. The Helen Mills Theater and Event Space as well as select events at the SVA Theatre will be home to the 14th annual NYTVF.

The mission of the festival is to connect content creators to buyers. This year, over 40 percent of the submissions selected are not formally represented in the industry and will be able to use the resources of the festival to navigate the system of development and acquisition with industry leaders.

Pilots selected for the 2018 festival represent writers, producers, actors from across the U.S. as well as international selections from the U.K., Austria, Australia, and Canada.
