#NominateNYC: Increase Diversity in the Academy

(released 7/20/2016)

#NominateNYC is an initiative for New York based entertainment professionals to nominate themselves or others for consideration for membership to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.  Increasing the diversity of membership to include women, more colorful people, LGBT, and the disabled that work in front of the camera and behind the scenes is also a goal.

The 17 branches in the Academy have sponsorship requirements. The #NominateNYC is also meant to be a resource to learn more about the associations, unions, guilds and memberships that are related to the film industry.

For information and requirements, go to the Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment website: www1.nyc.gov
