New York Asian Film Festival is opening July 10 and running through July 26. This year is the 25th anniversary of the festival and will include 50 filmmakers ranging from veteran to new voices. Post-screening, many filmmakers will make special appearances and participate in Q&A's.
Director Yeon Sang-ho returns with a zombie cinema outbreak that attacks and adapts. COLONY has been Korea's biggest local opening and had a world premiere at Cannes. COLONY will have its US premiere at the New York Asian Film Festival opening night.
The fan favorite Opening Night Market will return with live Jazz and bites and drinks from local Asian brands and local vendors. Hong Kong, Philippines, Japan, North Korea, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam have films in the festival.
In addition to films, there will be panel talks on Asian and Asian American Short Filmmaking and Asian American Filmmaking in NYC. There is a Filmmakers Night, a Mahjong night and more scheduled.
Most of the festival will be held at Film at Lincoln Center and SVA Theatre sprinkled with events at the Korean Cultural Center NY, Anthology Film Archives, and IFC Center.
