DOC NYC & IDA hold Documentary Preservation Summit

(released 3/27/2015)

The first Documentary Preservation Summit is being held March 31 and April at the IFC Center.  The summit is being organized by DOC NYC and the International Documentary Association.

The goal of the summit is to get the word out to filmmakers that it is imperative to archive their work for their own benefit as well as the viewing public.

Speakers at the summit will include Oscar winning directors D.A. Pennebaker (Monterey Pop) and Barbara Kopple (American Dream), Michael Donaldson (fair use attorney), Margaret Bodde (Exec Dir of The Film Foundation), and Sandra Schulberg (IndieCollect).  They will discuss the risks of loss and strategies for the future.

More on the schedule and ticket/pass info can be found on docnyc.net.
