Aristotle and Dante at United Palace Theater

(released 2/23/2024)

On Monday, February 26, Movies at The United Palace with Lin-Manuel Miranda kicks off its 2024 season entitled "MOVIES WE MISSED". The doors will open at 6p.m. and shut promptly at 7pm for the 1 hour and 38 minute screening of Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe.

The film is about two Mexican-American teenagers in 1987 El Paso, Texas who explore a new unusual friendship and new understanding about their families, while navigating the difficult road to self-discovery. The film is based on Benjamin Alire Sáenz's best-selling young adult novel. The film premiered in 2022 at the Toronto International Film Festival and was released in the US in September of 2023 by Blue Fox Entertainment.

Miranda's 2023 Movies at the United Palace series was cut short in 2023 by the writers' and actors' strikes. The strikes hurt promotional efforts around many new releases. This led to the theme of "Movies We Missed" for the 2024 series. Miranda, also the producer on this series' opening film, will be in conversation at the screening with director Aitch Alberto and stars Max Pelayo and Reese Gonzales. This will be the first time since the 2023 strikes when the film released that the filmmakers will be able to celebrate the film together. The film currently holds a 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Movies at the United Palace with Lin-Manuel Miranda is sponsored by the Miranda Family Fund with support from New York-Presbyterian Hospital.

Tickets are free and are first come, first serve on show day with 3,000 seats available. Guests with accessibility needs should go to the ADA entrance at the front of the line near the marquee.
