Mean Girls Premieres at AMC Lincoln Square

(released 1/8/2024)

The premiere of Mean Girls took place Monday night, January 8th at the Lincoln Square 13 AMC movie theater on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.

Paramount Pictures announced in 2020 the return of Mean Girls directed by Samantha Jayne and Art Perez Jr. and that the film would be a screenplay by Tina Fey. In addition, Fey would serve as producer alongside producer Lorne Michaels who produced the 2004 film. This Mean Girls 2024 is a musical teen comedy film with composer Jeff Richmond and lyricist Nell Benjamin returning to rework their songs from the stage musical, while Richmond also composed the film's score.

Principal photography took place in Middletown Township, New Jersey in the spring of 2023. The film was originally set to premiere on the streaming service Paramount+, but in September of 2023, the distributor opted for a theatrical release first. Mean Girls is set to premiere in theaters on Friday, January 12th. The same day the musical film's soundtrack is set to be released by Interscope Records.

The film is rated PG-13 with a running time of 1 hour and 52 minutes. This is a shorter version than the stage production that ran over two hours. Fans of the original movie can see Tina Fey and Tim Meadows as they once again are Mrs. Norbury and Mr Duvall.

There are a few theaters in NYC that have special early access screenings prior to Friday. Find your screen time here: https://www.meangirls.com.
