SAG-AFTRA & WGA Strike at NYC City Hall

(released 8/3/2023)

On Tuesday, August 1, 2023, New York City Council members, SAG_AFTRA and WGA Union leaders gathered in City Hall Park at noon.  Collecting momentum, the group was heading to City Hall at 1p.m. to Council Chambers to propose resolutions to the Committee on Civil Service and Labor.

Council members Carmen De La Rosa and Amanda Farias introduced resolutions in support of fair contract negotiations for both the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and the Screen Actors Guild - American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA).

Resolution 0694-2023 states: Resolution calling upon the Alliance of Motion Pictures and Television Producers to engage in good faith negotiation that will result in a fair contract for all Writers Guild of America Members. Proposed Res. No. 694-A.

Resolution T2023-3867 expressing unwavering support of striking SAG-AFTRA members in the pursuit of a fair and just contract was marked Preconsidered on the City Council website here: https://nyc.legistar1.com/nyc/
