The Writers Guild Strike began May 2, 2023. Entering week five of the strike east coast members took to the front of ABCNY studios on Columbus Avenue in Manhattan to continue to protest for a contracted livable wage.

Picketers shouted:

"Hey Hey Ho ho this corporate greed has got to go"

"Get up Get Down, New York is a Union Town."

"No Wages, No Pages"

Picketers demanded:

"What do we want? Contracts! When do we want em? Now!"

"If we don’t get it, Shut it down"

Actress Lea DeLaria AKA "Carrie 'Big Boo' Black" from the Netflix hit Orange Is the New Black joined the picket line Tuesday, May 30 in solidarity at the ABCNY studios. DeLaria was vocal about how she will forever be replayed Macgyvering a screw driver into a dildo and masturbating on screen, but will never get paid for the streaming.

Also seen in the line was writer/producer and co-founder/former CEO of Focus Features James Schamus.
