New York Indian Film Festival Runs May 11-14

The New York Indian Film Festival is KEEPING YOU IN THE PICTURE. The 23rd edition, for the film aficionados in the city, will run from May 11-14, 2023.

Opening night film is THE THREE of US, directed by Avinash Arun Dhaware. It will have its East Coast Premiere with a red carpet at 5:30pm followed by the screening at 6:30pm. The opening night will be held at the Village East by Angelika located at 181-189 2nd Avenue in Manhattan on Thursday, May 11th. Movie screening will be followed by Q&A with Avinash Arun, Shefali Shah, Jaideep Alhawat, and Swanand Kirkire.

The emergence of Indian women documentary filmmakers will be the highlight May 13th with a Saturday morning reception and panel Breaking Barriers, Sharing Stories: The New Indian Women Filmmakers. The morning gathering will be presented as a collaboration of The New York Indian Film Festival, New York Women in Film and Television, and Manhattan Neighborhood Network. MNN is located at 509 W. 38th Street in Manhattan and will be the location for the reception that starts at 9:30am and the panel at 10:00am. Saturday morning speakers include Bedatri D. Choudhury, Kavery Kaul, and Geeta Gandbhir and moderated by NYWIFT Board Member Shruti Ganguly. You can register for the event here: www.nywift.org

The closing night film GOLDFISH, directed by Pushan Kripalani, will have its East Coast Premiere with a red carpet at 4:30pm screening at 5:30pm and post film Q&A. The Sunday closing night, May 14th, will be held at the SVA Theatre located at 333 West 23rd Street, New York, New York 10011.
