ReelAbilities Film Festival is April 27 Thru May 3

ReelAbilities Film Festival will be Thursday, April 27th through Wednesday, May 3, 2023. The festival will also be hosting ReelAbilities Industry Summit: Disability Inclusion and Equity in Film and Performing Arts, May 1-2, 2023 in person and online. Founded in 2007 by Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan, ReelAbilities Film Festival New York is the largest festival in the country dedicated to promoting awareness and appreciation of the lives, stories and artistic expressions of people with disabilities.

Unidentified Objects will be the opening night feature. Red carpet at 6pm, opening night remarks and film at 6:30pm, followed by a Q&A and reception. This 100min film directed by Juan Felipe Zuleta is adventure, drama, fantasy, friendship and relationships. "Peter is an intellectual outsider with an edge. He lives as a loner, until an unexpected visit from his upbeat—and possibly unhinged—neighbor Winona forces him out of his shell and on an impromptu road trip to rural Canada. As they journey into the wilderness, the odyssey turns into a search for their place in the universe."

Films will screen in venues throughout the city. In addition to films, there is a ReelAbilities Comedy Night at Gotham Comedy Club April 30th and a virtual event that explores the relationship between disability and humor on Monday, May 1st at 7:30p.m. Let's Laugh More.
