Colbert EPing Late Night Charlamagne Show

THA GOD'S HONEST TRUTH WITH LENARD "CHARLAMANGE" MCKELVEY will premiere September 17 on Comedy Central. Stephen Colbert is Executive Producing this new half hour weekly late-night series. The Friday 10p.m. time slot will feature Charlamange's culturally fluid take on social issues through sketches and social experiments to unpack pressing topics.

"This is one of those moments where I can show you better than I can tell you," said Charlamagne. "This is the third talk show Chris McCarthy has done with me and those shows prepared me for this opportunity. My South Carolina brethren Stephen Colbert is the ultimate cosign in the late night space and he wouldn't cosign no bullshit! We are going to win an Emmy next year for best lighting direction I can feel it!!!"

"For too long, the town of Moncks Corner, South Carolina has been underrepresented in late night," said Colbert. "I look forward to all the ways in which the fearless, peerless Charlamagne is going to change the game."

Born and raised as Lenard (Larry) McKelvey in Moncks Corner, South Carolina, Charlamagne a radio man, became a second mic to Wendy Willams after working the air waves in South Carolina. McKelvey established The Breakfast Club, a legendary hip hop show that was inducted in the Radio Hall of Fame. He is the Author of The New York Times bestseller BLACK PRIVILEGE: OPPORTUNITY COMES TO THOSE WHO CREATE IT and the globally embraced SHOOK ONE: ANXIETY PLAYING TRICKS on ME making him a leading voice in mental health awareness. He is a giver as he presented $250,000 in scholarship awards to South Carolina State University Alumni Association. The funds are to provide for African American women who major in communications or English.
