Brooklyn Film Festival is June 5-13

(released 5/5/2021)

Brooklyn Film Festival 2021 will premiere 140 films competing for the Grand Chameleon Award. BFF is a competitive festival of international films submitted and divided into six categories: Feature Narrative, Feature Documentary, Short Narrative, Short Doc, Experimental, and Animation.

The entire lineup will be available from June 4 starting at noon eastern time and go through June 13 until 10p.m. around the clock without interruption virtually on the brooklynfilmfestival.org website.  A reduced version of the lineup will be presented indoors at Windmill Studios in Brooklyn from Saturday, June 5 to Sunday, June 13. The shorter lineup will allow for longer intermissions and create safer festival operations.

"The Clearing" is the theme of the 2021 festival as New York residents are getting vaccinated and continue to observe rules regarding safe distance and masks. "The Clearing" is about safe distancing from the accumulated pain and anger of the Covid tunnel we are all trying to move clear of with new hope and optimism.

This year's festival will be the 24th annual and is New York's longest running international, competitive film festival.

In an April release, the festival  press office said "BFF is also happy to announce that the 17th Annual KidsFilmFest will be staged online together with BFF's programs, and be available for the entire festival, June 4-13. KidsFilmFest will present two programs of films, tailored for young viewers: age 3 to 7, and 8 to 15. The films are all rated "G," and consists of numerous animated shorts, documentaries and narrative films."
